Away from the office and catching up on work? Here’s how ZenUI can help you stay connected and be more efficient – even if you forgot all your cables at home or there’s no free Wi-Fi available.
Tip #1 – Connect your computer to the internet using your own mobile hotspot
Ever been caught off guard with an unreliable internet that keeps getting you disconnected? Or with the sheer lack of free Wi-Fi? Don’t worry! Your trusty ZenFone can help stay connected by sharing your cellular data to your computer.
To set up a wireless mobile hotspot, go to Settings > More > Tethering & portable hotspot. Now tap Set up Wi-Fi hotspot and create your own Network name and Password, then tap Save. Finally, turn on Portable Wi-Fi hotspot. Once the hotspot is on, you’ll be able to find it on your laptop’s list of available wireless network connections.
Note: This type of wireless connection does use your cellular data (i.e. 3G, 4G) and may incur additional charges. Please check with your mobile carrier regarding tariff plans.
Tip #2 – Transfer files wirelessly between PC and mobile
What if you want to transfer files from your phone to your computer but forgot your USB cable at home? This is when ZenUI File Manager simplifies your life with the PC file transfer feature: just connect both your ZenFone and your computer to the same Wi-Fi network – and yes, it can be the hotspot you have just created on your ZenFone – and all your files are within easy reach, wirelessly.
To connect your ZenFone to your computer, tap PC file transfer on File Manager’s home screen, then tap Start.
Enter the address you are given on your desktop browser, and that’s it. In the example below, the image on the right shows the PC browser. Note that you can use any browser to do this.
Note: This type of wireless file transfer does not use your cellular data if you are connected to a free Wi-Fi. However, it does use your cellular data if you are connected to your own mobile hotspot, which may incur additional charges. Please check with your mobile carrier regarding tariff plans.
Tip #3 – Find all your files in one place, effortlessly
File Manager can also help you keep track of your cloud-based documents. With the Add cloud storage feature you can consolidate all your documents from different storage systems in a single place, saying goodbye to the days of not remembering where you stored which file.
To link File Manager to your preferred cloud storage, tap then tap Add cloud storage. Setting up is simple, but each of the options available will prompt you to log in to your corresponding account in a different way.
So remember to update File Manager before heading out of the office. Work smarter and seamlessly with ZenUI!
